Decluttering Tips and Support Weekly Newsletter Vol. 6 Dear Reader, When I started my minimalist journey in December 2014, I never imagined that I'd be podcasting, coaching, and helping moms overcome overwhelm by decluttering their homes, heads, and hearts. I just knew I wanted to be a mom, and the promise of minimalism gave me hope that simplicity could be part of my journey. You would think that after almost a decade of decluttering, I would have a lot of decluttering regrets. Most of us hold onto stuff we don't need because of fears around decluttering regret, including: "I paid so much for this! The tags are still on it." "I need to keep it just in case." "My kids might want this someday." But even though my family jokes that if it's not bolted down, I might declutter it.... I have very few decluttering regrets. The one thing? My youngest son's clothing. It seems that in Virginia, March comes in like a lion, but not always out like a lamb. So I have learned that holding onto his cold weather clothing for a few months longer is a good idea instead of decluttering them at the first sign of spring. Still, I was able to use the Minimalists' 20/20 rule and learned my lesson for the next time so I can make more intentional decisions about purchasing - and decluttering! Do you have any decluttering regrets? Hit reply and let me know! Before You Go... If you are a homeschooling mom (or know one) you don't want to miss the Happily Homeschooling Littles Summit which is going on now until March 4. Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, Often when my clients contact me, it's because the organizing system they had in place "failed" and stuff has exploded everywhere. And as we go through their home like an archaeological dig, it is revealed that they had good intentions by purchasing tools to help them contain the chaos - bins, organizers, and containers galore. But the truth is that they haven't failed - and their system hasn't necessarily failed either. It's that they started with...

Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, One of the questions I get the most often is WHERE should I start decluttering? It's a valid question, especially when we feel completely overwhelmed. Typically I have recommended a place that's not even in your home at all - your car. Why? Because it's a small, contained space with a super high trash to sentimental item ratio. Typically I find fruit snack wrappers, library books, and soccer balls in my car - things that are trash or can be relocated...
