My #1 Decluttering Tip

Decluttering Tips and Support Weekly Newsletter Vol. 5

Dear Reader,

Almost a decade into my minimalist journey, I am fairly ruthless about getting physical clutter out of my house.

Case in point - yesterday was Valentine's Day. My boys came home with backpacks FULL of valentines, candy, and "treasures". I use the term treasure loosely. But what I see as knick-knacks and junk, they see as something precious.

We took a moment to go through their treasure boxes and play my favorite game "Love Like Maybe No" - using the container concept to decide what stayed and what got trashed.

In fact, the container concept is the #1 tactical decluttering tip that can simplify decluttering. Even a 6 year old can do it!

It's no wonder that my episode about the container concept is one my top downloaded episodes ever! And speaking of episodes...

We just reached 100 episodes and I celebrate on today's podcast with audio clips of the top 10 downloaded episodes of all time!

Thanks so much for all your support on this journey! I couldn't do it without you.

Before You Go...

If you are a homeschooling mom (or know one) you don't want to miss the Happily Homeschooling Littles Summit which goes from February 19 - March 4. Discover strategies that will help you simplify homeschooling, unlock meaningful teaching experiences, and keep your sanity in the process.

If you're a parent of a teen, the Love to Learn 3 summit is February 26 - March 10 and if you sign up using my unique link, I'll give you a free 30-minute decluttering coaching session.

On this journey with you,

Emily

P.S. Scrolled to the end? No problem. This week on the podcast I shared 4 steps to master mental clutter and celebrated 100 episodes!

Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, I've been avoiding getting on the bathroom scale for a while now. As long as I don't step onto it, I can ignore a number that will likely make me unhappy. Sure my clothes are fitting a bit snugger than I'd like. But ignorance is bliss...right? I feel ya, Bridget Jones Not necessarily. I just read a book called Finish by Jon Acuff where he talks about the importance of data when it comes to reaching our goals. As he shares: "Data kills denial which...

Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, Recently my oldest son called out to me right before he was about to go to bed: "Mom! I need you! I think I decluttered too much!" My initial thought... He showed me an Amazon box full of trinkets he had decluttered from his "treasure box" - a shoe box that is the physical boundary for all the small knick-knacks he gets from school, birthday parties, etc. He had decluttered WITHOUT prompting! I was shocked. 😮 Now mind you, this has been several years...
