Decluttering Tips and SupportDear Reader, As my two boys have grown, they have started taking my statements and requests as, shall we say, gateways for negotiation. If I tell them they can watch one show, they ask if they can watch two. If I tell them they can have three pieces of candy, they ask if they can have four. If I ask them to be home for dinner by 5:30, they ask if they can play until 6. It's constant. And exhausting. It's hard to hold boundaries when they just won't quit! If you're finding yourself in a power struggle every time you ask your child to clean their room, or if they refuse to get rid of anything (even if they never play with it or wear it), hope is here! On the PodcastIf you're not familiar with Dana K. White from A Slob Comes Clean, I would highly recommend that you check out her popular YouTube channel and podcast. She has also written several relatable books that are definitely worth checking out. And she's already been a guest on the podcast before! Dana and I chat about all things decluttering with kids. She shares: We also chat about her new children's book Winnie's Pile of Pillows, geared for kids ages 4-8. It's all about how we can love things and the joy they bring us - but that often the blessing of things can become a burden when we have too much. It reminds kids how we can keep what we love and make room for what matters most. Things I'm Loving Right Now✨ My decluttering/organizing tool of the week is one I've mentioned before - AnyList - which I use for recipes, meal planning, and making various shopping lists. But it has a new feature I love - timers integrated into the recipes when you put it in Cook Mode. Now for each step you can set the timer directly in the app as you're cooking! ✨ My decluttering/organizing resource of the week is Dana K. White's new children's book Winnie's Pile of Pillows. Perfect for kids ages 4-8 to teach them how they can love their favorite things - without feeling overwhelmed by too much. ✨ My favorite recipe of the week is homemade Hamburger Helper - an easy weeknight meal you can dress up with veggies if you like! Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, For those of you who are following along with our moving journey, we are breathing a bit easier this week with a signed contract on our house. We also have a bid in on a house in Pennsylvania and are anxiously waiting to hear back! A while back, I wrote a blog post about my ten non-negotiable habits that has done well for itself in the land of Google search. :) My habits have mostly stayed the same with a few updates I'd love to share with you....
Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, We are officially moving from Virginia to Pennsylvania this summer, and I have NEVER been more grateful for my clutter-free home. In order to get house "listing-ready" we've had to clear surfaces, relocate furniture, and maximize the space to entice potential buyers. Watch out! Don't open that closet! Since we don't have a garage, any excess stuff has been moved to part of our basement. As I moved Lego sets, bean bag chairs, bookshelves, and end...
Decluttering Tips and Support Dear Reader, Have you ever heard of the Great Stuff Transfer? It's when Boomer parents try to give their stuff (mostly furniture, housewares, heirlooms, etc.) to their children who either don't have the room for the items or don't want them. Perhaps you've experienced a variation of this, where you're given boxes of items from your childhood that your parents were holding onto for years. I was given all my report cards since kindergarten. :) It seems that while...
